2016’s Hottest Trends for Spring and Summer

In 2015, we saw a lot of their trends that showcased creativity & contouring. There was a lot of experimentation with colors throughout the year from the countless gray hair transformations to various hues of the pastel color family. This big trend even carried over in to hair extensions. Hair extensions began to stray from the traditional natural colors in a major way. Braids began to make a comeback and these could be seen on many celebs from Gabrielle Union to Kim Kardashian.

In 2016, we are beginning to see hair trends & colors go back to the basics. We can expect to see more creativity within textures and shapes of haircuts while maintaining a natural look when it comes to color. Here’s what we can look forward to seeing:

Braids: Braids have begun to make a big comeback towards the end of 2015. They will continue to be popular throughout the spring and summer of 2016 due to their versatility and simplicity. With braids you don’t have to worry about endless products and styling tools. Braids are truly versatile and you can get a lot of different looks out of them. They can be used to create a decorative side part or bold pigtails. They can also be used to create beautiful loose waves. Simply wash your hair before bed, braid your hair and sleep. When you wake up, un-braid your hair and lightly shake it out for an amazing textured look.

Bobs: Oh, the classic bob. The bob haircut will always be a classic staple in the beauty industry. With its simplicity, it leaves anyone with a fresh and youthful look. The low maintenance and easy styling make this an easy choice for those ladies on the go with not a lot of time to style their hair. Want to do something different? Try an inverted bob and keep some of your length in the front, while having shorter hair in the back!

Curls: Staying on track with the “back to basics” theme, curls are the ultimate basic hair style. Leaving hair in its simplest form is the epitome of natural hair texture. It is a common misconception that natural curls take a lot of work, when in reality they are probably the most low maintenance hair style. If you have been blessed with natural curls – or even waves, put the flat iron down and rock what you’ve been born with! Simply wash, use your preferred products, blow-dry your hair with a diffuser and done! You don’t even have to dry your hair completely, about half way will do the job and let Mother Nature do the rest.

Deep Parts: A growing trend that so many people are rocking is the deep, dramatic part. You can create an entirely different look with either a perfectly centered middle part or an extreme side part. You can experiment with these with almost any hair style and length which makes it so easy to do.

Hair Accessories: Hair accessories are making a statement – and no not your typical headbands and clips either. New accessories such as hair jewelry, part art and hair tattoos are statement pieces that are sure to leave a lasting impression. There are even iron-on hair gems such as gold stars, for example. These unique accessories are sure to be an unexpected pop of bling that can be the final touch to any outfit. Go big, go bold & go colorful this summer and let your creativity show!
